Choose Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace for your Amazing Holiday!
Some hotel stays are utterly forgettable – decent food, standard sheets, middle-of-the-road location. But some, you’ll remember for the rest of your life. The host hotel of Glossy’s new issue has a history of almost 30 years and after a grand transformation, is returning with the highest standards and big plans – to be a “world gathering place”.
It was the year 1991. “Sheraton Metechi Palace” opened in Tbilisi – the first international hotel in Georgia and 5-star hotel in the whole of the Caucasus.
From 1991 to December 2014 there had probably been no Georgian or foreign journalist who hadn’t worked in the Sheraton’s lobby at one point or another. Sheraton Metechi Palace has been visited over the years by a whole host of high ranking guests; local and international conferences have been held here; business forums; workshops, etc.
Today, after a 4 year rehabilitation process, “Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace” continues its history under the ‘Grand’ status. This status has been granted thanks to the merit of its unique location, outstanding views, sophisticated design, distinguished cuisine, its own wellbeing facilities, and high services. In short, Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace hotel is everything you could expect from a hotel.
Design
The interiors set the stage to appreciate the multifaceted Georgian tradition with the introduction and recurrence of decorative Georgian elements, and compliment the magnificent ambience in the ten-storey atrium area where guests are welcomed by an over dimensioned sofa element canopied with enormous lanterns. The lobby design is focused on encouraging guests to mingle through the interconnecting zones with their various terrace arrangements.
Historic weaving patterns and graphic abstractions of the Caucasus mountains were reinterpreted into modern carpet design, screen-print glass features and fin details, providing subtle and constant reference to the locality – and all of this the great work of Keith Wright, who specialises in the area of hospitality and hotel design, and Sonja Wright, interior designer.
